I am the one who lures you into the swamp of heated
emotions and slippery sex. I smother and engulf. Like quicksand, I pull
you under. Living alone in the swamp, I am hungry for life. I want the drama
and danger of the dark places. I crave feelings of any kind, touch and,
most of all, innocence. I am the one who hurts without meaning to.
Artist's statement
Often when I think I know exactly how a card
should look, I can't find the right images. But when I'm open and curious
about how to depict a certain quality, the images seem to find themselves.
I usually have several cards in progress, and at some point they just magically
come together. This process teaches me patience and faith. This card has
many layers of meaning, including imagery from a favorite poem and a title
suggested by a friend.
