Artist's statement
The cookie's fortune said, You should presently
be able to deal from a full deck. I thought that odd, since I'd been reading
tarot for years, and provocative, because I'm a poet. Not long afterwards,
SoulCollage™ took me by the scruff of my neck and I was consumed with a
passion for creating. It felt as if all the images I saw in magazines and
card racks were three-dimensional. I made my first twenty cards in two weeks-each
card a poem with multiple levels of meaning in the layered images. What
could I do but surrender
to the process?
